Project Brief:

The client has hired you to verify the suitability of the site depicted in the plan provided for use as a restaurant. They have asked that you develop a preliminary design that meets the requirements listed and that includes a preliminary material palette. Based upon your findings, the client may sign a lease for the building or elect to review another local building that might better suit their needs.

Tapas and cocktails bar to accommodate the following requirements:

-Bar area seating for 50 (to be accommodated within the bar and adjacent bar lounge.) A minimum of 22 lineal feet of bar counter area.
-Food service (dining) seating for 36 is required adjacent to kitchen*
-Lobby seating for 4 adjacent to 2’ x 2’ hostess stand.
-1 waiter/bus station

Concept Statement:

The Cheers Lounge is a tapas and cocktail lounge that is known for its large drink selection and delicious small plates. The most popular drink on the menu is a bourbon or whiskey sour made with fresh squeezed lemon juice and garnished with an orange slice. When you enter the Cheers Lounge you are greeted with an elegant bar and dining experience that is decorated with gold, green, and other dark features. The dim lighting creates a moody environment for the perfect night out

Archives Advertisement:

The historical piece I chose was a southern comfort advertisement from the 1930s. The ad talks about how to improve your drinks with southern comfort and includes two recipes for a bourbon and whiskey sour. This will be the signature drink at the Cheers lounge and the advertisement images will help inspire the interior feeling of the lounge.
